lyric love

As is clearly shown by my blog title, I love song lyrics. Moments Pass Slow is a line of the chorus of our song: My Wish by Rascal Flatts. We danced to this song as our first dance as husband and wife. It has been our song since about a month into dating. We had just had dinner with my family for my sister’s birthday and we were driving toward the highway to our two separate homes in our two separate cars when my cell phone rang and it was Greg. He told me to pull over into the gas station before getting on the highway. When we got there he jumped out of his car and ran over to mine to hand me a CD – the (then) new Rascal Flatts CD, Me and My Gang. He said “song number 5, just listen to it, it’s amazing.” And I did, and I giggled and smiled and maybe got a little weepy – but since then it’s been our song. (cheeeeeesey!)

My Wish – Rascal Flatts

if it’s cold outside,
show the world the warmth of your smile

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you’re out there getting where you’re getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
and you help somebody every chance you get,

while you’re out there getting where you’re getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too

I would never change what song we had our first dance to, but some other songs that have come out recently would be amazing first dance songs for some other happy and in love bride and groom. Here are some of my favorite lyrics from two of my new favorite songs:

~~~~~~~~~
Marry Me – Train
Forever can never be long enough for me
To feel like I’ve had long enough with you
Forget the world now we won’t let them see
But there’s one thing left to do
Together can never be close enough for me
To feel like I am close enough to you
You wear white and I’ll wear out the words I love
And you’re beautiful
Now that the wait is over
And love and has finally shown her my way
Marry me
Today and every day
~~~~~~~~~

Without You – Keith Urban

I’ve loved you since the very first day
When I caught you looking my way
A smile and just knew it.

And people that I barely knew, love me ‘cos I’m part of you

Man I start to figure
How two souls can be, miles from one another
But still you and me, have somehow found each other.

Without you I’d survive, but I’d have to have a notion
That I could live this life, just going through the motions

This life, this love that you and I have been building up so high
It’s never gonna touch the sky, without you.

What was your first dance song with your husband? Or what is your dream song if you haven’t had your wedding yet?

    Well, you know it was To Make You Feel My Love – Billy Joel’s version. It was the perfect song for us and as time marches on and we are confronted with more hectic schedules and balance gone awry, it is still true. Ultimately at the end of a long day there is nothing I wouldn’t do to make your brother feel my love- though now it’s more like making a special meal, agreeing to watch the espn Brady 6 documentary or taking the kids outside for a walk to get him some peace and quiet.

    Your song is known in our house as auntie’s song- as you well know. I have a great video of her belting it out.

    Mccashew — that was our first dance song, too! Except we used the Kris Allen version (but I swear, we’re not American Idol die hards or anything…and in fact, if I could go back, I’d use Adele’s version). Anyway…these are such sweet songs, and the story of your song is adorable, Colleen!

    I love that Rascall Flatts song. Actually there isn’t one I don’t like from them. My husband and I danced to “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole. On one of our first dates, since it was near Christmas we sat in at his house and watched that Sandra Bullock/Bill Pulman comedy “While You Were Sleeping” and had that song in it.
